On the Map...

Frankadua is a town with a population of around 5,000 people around 3/4 hours drive north of Ghana's capital, Accra. The town has little facilities that we have become accustomed to in the western worlds. It is probably best described as a shanty town but the Frankaduan locals are keen to improve their situation. It is a friendly town with some great people who are actively looking at ways to improve the area and the livelihood of the townspeople.

Project Nunana Completion: Fully Stocking Retca School’s Library and Computer Laboratory

We are delighted to announce the successful completion of Project Nunana, an integral initiative aimed at fully stocking the library and computer laboratory at Retca School in Ghana. This project builds upon the foundation laid by Project Retca, enhancing the educational facilities we established with the necessary resources to maximize learning and technological engagement.

Project Overview

Project Nunana was conceived as a direct continuation of our efforts through Project Retca, which saw the construction of a library and computer laboratory at Retca School. Recognizing the need to equip these new facilities with the best resources, Project Nunana aimed to transform these spaces into fully functional learning centers, equipped with modern educational tools.

Achievements

The crowning achievement of Project Nunana is the comprehensive provision of essential educational materials and technology:

Books: We supplied over 65,000 books covering various subjects and age-appropriate materials, significantly enhancing the school’s library holdings and providing students with a wide range of learning materials.

Computers and Technology: The computer laboratory was equipped with 25 high-performance computers and a projector, creating a conducive environment for IT-based learning and digital literacy.

Additional Equipment: Numerous monitor screens were installed, along with ample desks and chairs to accommodate the students comfortably, ensuring an optimal layout for both individual study and collaborative projects.

Impact

The completion of Project Nunana has dramatically transformed the educational landscape at Retca School. Students now have access to a rich repository of literature and state-of-the-art computing facilities, which are crucial for their academic development and future career opportunities. The enhanced library and computer lab not only improve the quality of education but also make it more accessible, inviting, and effective.

The presence of advanced technological tools and a diverse range of books empowers teachers to deliver more engaging and comprehensive lessons, which can cater to the varied learning needs of students. This significantly contributes to an enriched educational experience and fosters a culture of learning and curiosity among the students.

As Project Nunana moves into the maintenance and evaluation phase, our commitment remains strong in ensuring the longevity and continued success of these facilities. We will monitor the utilization and impact of the resources provided, making adjustments as necessary to meet the evolving needs of the students and faculty at Retca School.

We are profoundly thankful to all contributors, partners, and the community for their unwavering support in bringing Project Nunana to fruition. Your commitment to improving education through enhanced resources is creating lasting impacts that will empower generations to come.

Together, we continue to pave the way for a brighter, more educated future for the children of Ghana.
